From Clients to Multi-Studio Owners: A 20-Year Bar Method Franchise Success Story
Transcript
When most people walk into a Bar Method studio, they’re looking for a great workout. For Laura Santora and Noreen Dante, that first class sparked something much bigger – a 20+ year journey as multi-unit franchise owners.
Embarking on their entrepreneurial journey, Laura and Noreen opened their first studio in 2004 in San Mateo and in 2010 they opened a second studio in Palo Alto. Recently they opened a flagship studio in San Francisco’s Financial District, creating a beautiful full circle moment in their career as Burr Leonard, founder of The Bar Method, first set roots in San Francisco over 24 years ago. Their story highlights the strength of The Bar Method community and the business model. Through their lens we’re able to see how The Bar Method continuously empowers transformative results for all ages and demographics while growing a thriving, supportive network of owners.

A Workout That Boosts Longevity
From 2001 to today, Laura and Noreen have seen the boutique fitness scene gain momentum and become a competitive industry. With several other up-and-coming methodologies across the US, The Bar Method has innovated while remaining rooted in what we do best: empowering people to live stronger, healthier lives through a low-impact workout that efficiently delivers results that all members crave.
Building a results-driven workout for all fitness enthusiasts starts with our expert technique team and curating each movement with precision. While reflecting on pivotal moments for The Bar Method, Noreen shares, “20 years ago, it was all about cardio – which is still great—but now I see 25-year-olds coming in and embracing heavier weights and it shows how this generation is redefining fitness for their generation. In the same vein I have 70-year-olds lifting 8 lbs. weights in compound movements, and I think wow I better step up my game! I’m blown away by the resilience and strength of our members, at every stage of life – what a powerful testament to our method.” Through each innovation, The Bar Method stays rooted in the tried-and-true workout that loyalists love while creating a workout that appeals to a broader range of fitness enthusiasts.

A Franchise Built on Partnership and Community
When you decide to franchise with The Bar Method, you’re not just opening a studio – you’re joining a strong community of entrepreneurs who want to see each other succeed. Whether you have a business partnership, like Laura and Noreen, or you are opening a studio independently, you’ll never be alone in business ownership.
Finding strength in partnership, Laura shares, “We’ve been able to lean into our strengths and grow our business in lockstep with one another. Connecting with the broader network, whether it’s in-person with our neighboring studio owners, like Helen Liu, or online, the ability to learn from the other studio owners has been invaluable.” From the West coast to the East coast, The Bar Method HQ keeps studio owners connected with best practices and advice.
